Writing Level 1

Writing level 1 places students into basic writing. Students are placed into this level if they meet one of the following criteria:

• ACCUPLACER NextGen Writing 219-235
• ACCUPLACER Classic Sentence Skills 44-60
• COMPASS Writing 21-37

Students can take classes at this level if they meet one of the following criteria:

• ACCUPLACER NextGen Writing 219 or higher
• ACCUPLACER Classic Sentence Skills 44 or higher
• COMPASS Writing 21or higher
• SAT Writing and Language 25 or higher
• ACT English 18 or higher
• Successful completion (C or higher) of any higher-level English (class with ENGL prefix)
• Associate Degree or higher
