TRUK 100 - Tractor Trailer Operations8 Credit: (4 lecture, 4 lab, 0 clinical) 8 Contact Hours: This program, delivered by Fleet Compliance Group, prepares students for an entry level position after they obtain their Class A or B CDL license. During this three week course, students will learn in the classroom, lab, and on the range. Students will also demonstrate over the road driving requirements such as: vehicle inspection; mandated D.O.T. Entry Level Training; load securement; basic control skills; backing maneuvers; on-road driving; shifting; D.O.T. hours of service rules, etc.
“One-on-one” training is provided for all on-road driving, most lab and range instruction and some classroom education.
Arrangements for a State Certified Third Party Test facility for the Skill Test will be scheduled at the conclusion of the session. Passing the State-Administered test will be reliant on the actual extent of dedication during training; preparation by the student; individual skills and ability; and attitude or behavior during the test.

To be considered for the FCG course you must meet the following program requirements:
- At least 18 years of age
- Hold a current and valid “Operator’s” license
- Ability to take and pass a State “Written Test” to obtain a Temporary Instruction Permit (TIP)

- Meet all physical and criminal requirements specified of F.M.C.S.A. D.O.T. regulations

- Identify the requirements for obtaining a Commercial Driver’s License.
- Understand international shipments including NAFTA and FAST.

- Demonstrate knowledge of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
- Demonstrate understanding of the Whistle Blower Protection program.

- Identify proper preventative maintenance procedures.
- Identify and demonstrate proper railroad crossing procedures.

- Demonstrate proper procedures for left and right hand turns.
- Demonstrate ability to identify various types of power units and trailers.
- Demonstrate proper accident procedures.
- Demonstrate proper shifting, braking, and mirror use.
- Demonstrate safe backing procedures.
- Demonstrate safe and proper procedure for coupling and uncoupling.
- Demonstrate proper procedure for pre-trip and post-trip procedures.
