Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science (through transfer to Cornerstone University)

Students in the exercise science major complete a rich curriculum in the studies of anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, nutrition and exercise. The student will gain a greater appreciation of how God designed the human body for movement.

“The kinesiology faculty at Cornerstone is passionate about exploring human movement with the Creator in mind! When one understands that God created our bodies and it is our responsibility to steward them, careers such as personal training, athletic training, physical therapy, teaching physical education and coaching have that much more meaning. These popular careers are being used in today’s culture to assist other with the care of their physical bodies.” Kim Zainea, Assistant Professor of Kinesiology

Students wishing to enter the job market with a Bachelor of Science degree in exercise science are prepared for entry level positions with corporate and community fitness programs, health clubs, YMCAs and similar fitness related organizations. Related positions include careers in sales or marketing of medical, fitness and sport-related equipment. Many students go on to acquire a graduate degree in this field. A degree in exercise science would prepare a student to enter a graduate field in adapted physical education, clinical exercise physiology, preventative rehabilitative exercise biomechanics, motor control and development, medicine, physical therapy, athletics training and occupational therapy.

With personal health and fitness occupying much of our nation’s attention, exercise science is an excellent way to tap into a plentiful job market whose goal is the promotion of a healthier nation through exercise and fitness programs.

While attending Cornerstone University, all exercise science majors are required to complete a six-hour internship. Possible internships include fitness programs, health clubs, hospitals, physical therapy and athletic training facilities.
