Applied Horse Science A.A.S. (Michigan State University)

(Code 1600)

Montcalm Community College (MCC) offers this degree program in cooperation with the Institute of Agricultural Technology at Michigan State University. This program is designed for students who desire to work in the horse industry, either for themselves, a horse farm, or a company in supporting industries.  Each student will complete an industry-related internship as part of the certificate program.  Students learn horsemanship, nutrition, caring for horses, and facility design. Of the credits required to complete this associate degree, the majority are delivered by MCC and the remainder are delivered by MSU.  It is possible for a student to complete this program and transfer to a four-year agricultural degree program at MSU. All MSU courses will be offered on MCC’s campus or online.

Students must apply to both MSU and MCC. For more information on enrolling at MSU, students should see a counselor/advisor and go to the following website: http://www.canr.msu.edu/institute_of_ag_tech
